Blu & Sndtrak – LA | Official Music Video

Inspired by his hometown's iconic G-Funk legacy yet rooted in the lyricism and soul of L.A.'s underground, Blu embodies the full spectrum of Los Angeles hip-hop on "LA," the title track from his upcoming collaborative album with Oakland producer Sndtrak, set for release this September. The official music video, directed by New High Filmz, reframes sunshine and palm trees in stark black-and-white — an unvarnished urban reality lurking just beyond the Hollywood glamour.

Blu is one of the most important voices in West Coast underground rap. Below The Heavens with Exile in 2007 remains a cornerstone of modern L.A. boom bap history — a record that defined what underground West Coast rap could sound like outside of gangsta and G-funk conventions. In the nearly two decades since, Blu has built an extensive catalog of collaborative projects: Madlib, MED, The Alchemist, Boldy James, Large Professor, Nottz, and most recently Evidence on the critically acclaimed Los Angeles album in 2024. Titling a song "LA" is neither pose nor nostalgia play when you are Blu. His relationship with the city is something he has processed musically for the better part of his career and that lived weight changes what the title means.

Sndtrak is a 9th Wonder affiliate whose production credits include Rapsody, Larry June, Smif-N-Wessun and more. Blu on the collaboration: "It's such an honor to work with Sndtrak on this project, he is so talented and blessed me with absolute heat."
