"Hear Me Out" is the third single from Luxury Tax, the second collaborative album between Detroit producer Apollo Brown and Brooklyn emcee Skyzoo, arriving September 25. It follows "No Discounts" and "God Given." A decade after their 2016 album The Easy Truth became a modern underground classic, the two reunite for a new chapter built on the same foundation: timeless production, razor-sharp lyricism and the kind of chemistry that only comes from two artists who understand each other's strengths completely.
Skyzoo explained the origin of the track directly. When he first heard the beat, it sounded like something out of New York in the mid 80s, a time of learning how to survive on the fly. Gritty and nostalgic while still being 2026. Lyrically it is a bar fest with a message, Skyzoo figuratively telling the corner store and everything surrounding it that when he leaves and makes it out, he will be making it proud at the same time. Hear me out.
The video matches that concept. Apollo and Skyzoo stand in front of a white Jeep Wrangler outside a project building, in the hallways of the abandoned building, and near the corner store Skyzoo raps about in the chorus. No excess, no distraction. The imagery serves the story the way the production serves the bars.
Apollo Brown remains one of the most reliable producers in underground hip-hop, his soulful, dusty, timeless sound instantly recognizable across a catalog that runs from The Reset through collaborations with Ghostface Killah, Ras Kass, Che Noir and O.C. Skyzoo continues to prove why he belongs in the conversation of best lyricists not just now but ever, his wordplay dense and witty without ever sacrificing substance. The Easy Truth featured Conway the Machine, Westside Gunn, Joell Ortiz and Stalley. Luxury Tax is set up to extend that legacy.
