Hit-Boy is operating on his own terms right now and "New Money" is proof of that.
Written, produced and performed entirely by himself, the track lands exclusively on hit-boy.ai — his own platform. No label, no UMPG, no middle man. That context matters. In July 2025 Hit-Boy finally broke free from an 18-year publishing deal he'd been locked into since he was a teenager — a contract with no end date that he publicly compared to a prison sentence. Jay-Z and Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez helped push the exit through. His first independent project What's The Deal dropped the same day he announced his freedom.
"New Money" is exactly what it sounds like: the sound of someone who now controls everything they make.
Most people know Hit-Boy through the records he built for other people — Niggas in Paris for Jay-Z and Kanye, the entire King's Disease series with Nas, collaborative projects with Nipsey Hussle, Big Sean, Benny the Butcher. The production catalog is one of the most decorated in modern hip-hop. But Hit-Boy has been serious about his lane as an MC for years too, and tracks like this are the reminder that the mic is just another instrument he knows how to use.
