When Jadakiss dropped that bar on "The Aroma" aimed at 38 Spesh, questioning whether their issues were "about a verse or about a career," he had to know a response was coming. 38 Spesh was not happy with Fat Joe, Jadakiss and DJ Khaled for "The Aroma" and decided to fire back with "Fool's Mate." Jim Jones also gets pulled into the record for defending Jadakiss publicly.

The title is not subtle. Fool's Mate is the fastest possible checkmate in chess, done in two moves. That is the metaphor Spesh is operating on here. Two moves, game over. The origin of the beef: 38 Spesh originally called out Jadakiss, claiming he was ducking a feature. Jada responded on "The Aroma." Jim Jones stepped in to defend Jadakiss and got caught in the crossfire. The bars Spesh delivers are personal and specific: "Jim Jones, you wanna be a street nigga so bad that you got Alpo's old bitch" and "Only reason Kiss eating cuz he's Fat Joe's lil mans."

38 Spesh performed "Fool's Mate" at Summer Jam despite pointed public warnings from both Fat Joe and Jadakiss in the days before the show. Fat Joe posted publicly: "Don't believe you can disrespect Fat Joe and not run into the militia." Jadakiss followed with: "I pray you have a SAFE day today. Don't run into the militia or any landmines." Spesh performed the track anyway and addressed the crowd after his set asking: "We looking for the militia."

The official video cranks everything up, employing comedians, AI and Rochester personalities to mock his opponents in a way that is impossible to ignore. What started as a casual comment during an interview has now evolved into a full-blown rap war.
