After four character teasers, the first real trailer for Avengers: Doomsday is finally here. Released July 20, 2026. And it was worth the wait.
Marvel has been slowly building anticipation since December 2025 with individual teasers for Steve Rogers, Thor, Doctor Doom and a fourth standalone clip, each one attached to screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. None of them gave much away. This one does. Two and a half minutes of the biggest superhero crossover event the MCU has ever attempted, and for the first time it actually feels like something is at stake again.
The recent MCU run has been inconsistent. A lot of what came out between Endgame and now did not land the way it needed to. Fantastic Four: First Steps looks like a genuine course correction. But Doomsday is the event the whole Multiverse Saga has been building toward, and the Russo Brothers returning to direct is the single biggest reason to believe it will deliver. The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Infinity War, Endgame. That track record speaks for itself.
The trailer is narrated by Thor, warning of a threat unlike anything before. Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier adds the line that lands hardest: "Something's coming, something we may not be able to deter." Steve Rogers is back. Robert Downey Jr. appears not as Tony Stark but as Victor von Doom, approaching what looks like a stone monument of his wife and son. That first proper look at Doctor Doom is worth the two years of waiting alone.
The Fox-era X-Men cast is confirmed: Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, Kelsey Grammer as Beast. That is the X-Men lineup that actually matters. Seeing those characters finally share a screen with the Avengers and the Fantastic Four is exactly what the multiverse concept has been promising since Endgame. If this is executed properly, it will be worth every year of patience.
Wakandans meet the Fantastic Four. New Avengers cross paths with the X-Men. Three distinct universes on a collision course. The runtime is 165 minutes. The Russos have the space to do this properly.
Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027. Tickets for Infinity Vision premium large format screenings are on sale now.
