Death Row Records is active in 2026 and Kurupt and DJ Battlecat are leading the charge.

"Gunna" is the latest single from their upcoming collaborative album, following "Sneak Atacc" featuring Snoop Dogg, which dropped roughly two weeks earlier. No album title, no release date confirmed yet — but the rollout is speaking for itself. Every single that comes out of this camp sounds like the album is going to be essential.

DJ Battlecat is one of the most underappreciated producers in West Coast hip-hop history. The LA beatmaker built a catalog that runs from Snoop Dogg's "Drop It Like It's Hot" through decades of G-funk-rooted, hard-hitting West Coast productions. Xzibit, Kurupt, Snoop — Battlecat has been the go-to for West Coast royalty for three decades without ever losing his touch. Hearing him and Kurupt locked in together for a full project is exactly the kind of announcement the West Coast underground needed.

Kurupt needs no introduction. Tha Dogg Pound alongside Daz Dillinger, Death Row from the original era, a lyrical style that was always sharper and more technically demanding than casual listeners gave it credit for. Philadelphia born, Los Angeles raised, West Coast through and through. His chemistry with Battlecat is built on shared history and shared aesthetic.

RBX is the right addition to "Gunna." A Death Row veteran from the original run alongside Dr. Dre and Snoop, he brings the kind of credibility that cannot be manufactured. The reunion energy is real on this one.
