Better Than McDonald's keeps delivering. This one might be the highlight.

"Gas Factory" is track six on Gangrene's fifth album, produced by Oh No and now getting a New High Filmz-directed video. We covered the album's announcement with "Better Than McDonalds : 1" and the "King Taco" video with Ab-Soul earlier this year. "Gas Factory" is the cut a lot of people are calling the best on the record, and the video treatment makes the case even stronger.

Rome Streetz goes full battle rap mode over the drumless, industrial production. He carves through the beat with more aggression than either of the hosts, beating a competitor like a stepchild and leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. No hook to hide behind, no melodic relief. Just bars stacked on bars over an instrumental that sounds exactly like its title suggests. Oh No strips the drums out entirely and lets the industrial atmosphere carry the weight, which is the perfect setting for an MC as precise and relentless as Rome.

Rome Streetz has been all over widontplay this year and for good reason. "Cocaine Coltrane," "Marathon Or Race" with Westside Gunn, his Sock It 2 My Pocket album on Mass Appeal, and now one of the standout features on the new Gangrene record. The Bronx MC is in the middle of a run that puts him at the center of the underground conversation, and every appearance reinforces why.

Gangrene remains one of the most reliable projects in underground rap. The Alchemist and Oh No, two producers who are equally strong on the mic, choosing loops based on how ugly they are and rapping stoned, angry and pleased with themselves. Better Than McDonald's is their most feature-heavy album to date and "Gas Factory" is the proof that the guest list was curated with intention. Rome Streetz belongs exactly here.
