One of German rap's greatest lyricists over one of its most reliable producers. This pairing needs no explanation.
"One Man Band" brings Samy Deluxe together with DJ Desue for a track that sits squarely in the boom bap tradition both artists respect. The title is fitting. Samy has always operated as a complete package, an MC and producer who built his reputation on pure skill rather than trend-chasing. Over the course of nearly three decades he has proven repeatedly that he can carry a record entirely on the strength of his pen.
Samy Deluxe is a foundational figure in German hip-hop. Born Samy Sorge in Hamburg in 1977, with Sudanese roots, he broke through with Dynamite Deluxe and their 2000 album Deluxe Soundsystem before his 2001 solo debut Samy Deluxe cemented his status. Widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted rappers the country has ever produced, he has spent his career refusing to dumb down his lyricism for wider appeal. His 2025 album SAMY x CONDUCTOR with American producer Conductor Williams showed he is still actively seeking out the best boom bap production available, and "One Man Band" with DJ Desue continues in exactly that direction.
DJ Desue is one of the most respected producers and mixing engineers in German rap. His name appears in the credits of a huge number of underground and mainstream releases, and his production carries the kind of grimy, dusty, hard-hitting quality that an MC like Samy thrives over. The two together deliver exactly what you would expect: no gimmicks, no filler, just craft.
