Morlockko Plus is back with the next transatlantic link-up. After his EP with Milano Constantine earlier this year, he now teams with J Scienide on Switchblade Ballet. The first video is "Slow Burner / Genghis", with Sonnyjim and Morlockk Dilemma on board. pretty.dirty directed the clip.
Three MCs, Three Scenes
The credits cover a lot of map. J Scienide records out of Washington, D.C. and has roots in Charlotte. Sonnyjim represents the UK. Morlockko Plus is the production alias of Leipzig rapper Morlockk Dilemma, who has been making beats under that name since 2011. On this record he shows up twice, on the beat and with the closing verse in German.
That switch to German works because the beat stays in its own lane the whole time. J Scienide opens with a travel verse that leads into the "slow burner" line behind the title, Sonnyjim follows with his laid-back food-and-luxury imagery, and Morlockk Dilemma closes it out.
The Morlockko Plus Formula
Morlockko Plus has turned the "vs" format into a series: one MC from abroad, his beats, and Morlockk Dilemma as the recurring guest. It connects German underground rap with the US and UK scenes in a way few producers here manage. The Foreign Exchange EP with Milano Constantine already did that in June, and Switchblade Ballet continues the line.
The vinyl presale for Switchblade Ballet starts on October 23 via Kapitalismus Jetzt.
